Dear fellow OPs,
I regard it as an honour and a privilege to have been elected as President of the Old Pocklingtonian Association, having previously served on the committee for several years.
I must begin by thanking my immediate predecessors, Andrew Wilson (89-99) and Tom Nash (68-77), for their work in leading the Association to its current healthy position. In addition, I would like to thank all the members of the committee for their support, and in particular, our OP Liaison Officer, Rachel Dare, whose enthusiasm and commitment is paramount to the strength of the Association.
Please do have a look around our new website, where you will be able to find out more about the range of social activities and sports events available. We are hoping to arrange a variety of informal drinks events in the year ahead, in addition to the more formal events such as the London dinner, so please keep an eye on the calendar.
We are entering an exciting phase in terms of careers support with the launch of the Pocklington School Foundation Careers and Business Network, in which the Association and the school aim to work together to strengthen the support available to our younger OPs in particular. Please contact Rachel if this is of interest to you, and also if you would like help in organising an event such as a year-group reunion, for example.
The superb "Old Pocklingtonian" magazine is packed with information and features, so please do have a read and let Rachel know of any significant items of news for future magazines or for our monthly e-mail news bulletins - we look forward to hearing from you, and also welcome suggestions about the Association and our activities!
Whilst I continue to teach Maths and to work as Resident Tutor at the outstanding Fenwick-Smith senior boys' boarding house, I still hope to be able to attend as many events as possible during my time as President. I really look forward to meeting you in the months and years ahead. Thank you in anticipation of your support.
